• Played the anatomist with friends and had so much fun! The room was very immersive and the puzzle were so cool and very logical! Julia was a great GM, very friendly and patient with us ! Highly recommend the room for beginners and lovers of escape rooms !!

• 10/10 escape room, was amazing theming and the host was fantastic at getting us into the mood and theme of the time. Puzzles were challenging and very rewarding once it was solved, and a great way to spend an hour of your evening

• We absolutely loved this escape room. The clues were difficult but not so much that we struggled with the two of us. Beth was an absolutely amazing host, and the theming of the room was wonderfully spooky. I would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Edinburgh. I have done a fair few escape rooms before, and this is my absolute favourite by far.

• Great escape room, we went with our daughters 11 and 13 and there was loads that they could do in a very non-linear way which was excellent. Would recommend for families visiting Edinburgh, Beth was an excellent GM and was even kind enough to send us a picture of the monthly leaderboard with us at the top of it!

• During a short break in Edinburgh, we were very fortunate to experience the ‘Escape to the Past’ Escape room. What a wonderful although eerie experience it was! We were. Group of 4, who were all in our 60’s, with very little experience of Escape rooms. The actual storyline and the props were so authentic and added to the mystery of finding Dr Malcolm’s journal. It was an amazing experience enjoyed by all and we can honestly say that we are definitely hooked now on Escape rooms.
  
  It is definitely worth a visit and will not disappoint.

• An excellent experience. Went very recently and had a great time. The staff were welcoming and explained the room and the context of the setting extremely well before my group went in, the design is fantastic - both puzzles and decoration. Would highly recommend to anyone considering this type of activity!

• Certainly one of the best escape rooms that I have done. All the puzzles were really well thought out and challenging yet none ever felt like too much of a stretch to get. They really fed well into the whole theme and atmosphere. A cool creepy vibe is set throughout which really suits the setting. Would definitely recommend! It felt really satisfying to complete!

• The best escape room I have ever done! It’s location is perfect for the theme of grave robbing, with Surgeon’s Hall and the old medical school just around the corner. The room itself is superbly designed with excellent attention to detail - the sights, sounds and even smells really set the scene! The puzzles are ingenious and extremely satisfying, and just when you think you’ve cracked it the plot thickens. The staff were very professional and engaging. Overall, an excellent evening and highly recommend.

• We had a fantastic experience at Escape the Past. We’ve done a good few escape rooms and I definitely felt that this was one of the most atmospheric. We loved the theme and its link to Edinburgh. The puzzles were a brilliant level of complexity and were designed really well. There were definitely some good surprises in there too! I would absolutely recommend it to others.

• We had so much fun solving this room during its trial phase. It is full of clever and interesting puzzles, which require different ways to approach them. To us what really stood out is the incredibly atmospheric setting. The attention to detail that went into recreating a scene from Edinburgh's fascinating medical research history is amazing, it really does feel like you are back in the 19th century. We have done many of the escape rooms in Edinburgh and this is by far our favourite one.

• The best escape room I’ve done by far. The theme of Edinburgh’s medical and surgical history fits in perfectly with the location - it really does feel like you’re in the study of a 19th century anatomist. The clues and puzzles are clever and full of surprises!

• Incredible escape room! So much thought has gone into every detail, you feel like you've gone back in time! We had a great experience as a group of 4, lots of different puzzles and twists and turns that kept us guessing till the very end. A really great way to spend an hour, and suitable for teens!

• Best escape room I've ever been to! They have managed to create a fully immersive and atmospheric experience, with theming that's second to none. The story is completely original, you truly believe you're in 1800's Edinburgh. Everyone in our group loved it.
